At its Made on YouTube event in New York this week, the Google-owned platform revealed that creators will soon be able to use cutting-edge artificial intelligence—from automated editing to deepfake detection—to enhance their videos and protect their likeness.

Veo 3 Arrives in Shorts

One of the biggest announcements is the integration of Google DeepMind’s Veo 3, the company’s most advanced video generation model, directly into YouTube Shorts. Veo 3 can create high-quality, short vertical videos—complete with sound—based on nothing more than a text prompt. Creators can access it by opening the Shorts camera, tapping Create, and selecting the sparkle icon.

The rollout begins this month in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a wider global launch expected later.
