Google has expanded access to Canvas, an AI-powered project planning tool integrated within Google Search, making it available to all users across the United States. The tool is designed to provide a dedicated workspace where users can organize ideas, plan projects, and manage tasks with the help of artificial intelligence.

Canvas operates inside AI Mode on Google Search. Users can access it directly from the AI Mode interface by clicking the plus icon located beside the search prompt. Once selected, Canvas opens in a side panel next to the main chat window, allowing users to build and refine projects while continuing to interact with AI prompts. The feature works across desktops, smartphones, and tablets, although mobile users may need to toggle between screens due to the split-panel layout.

One of the most prominent use cases for Canvas is travel planning. The tool gathers real-time information from search results and compiles it into a structured workspace. Users can explore flight options, compare hotel availability, and view additional travel details in one place. Canvas also pulls in information from Google Maps, including photos, ratings, and reviews, helping travelers evaluate destinations more easily. By combining multiple sources of data, the tool allows users to create customized travel plans based on their preferences, schedules, and budgets.

Beyond travel, Canvas can also support academic planning and project management.
