OpenAI has officially opened the doors to Sora 2, its viral AI-powered social media app, for users in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea — no invite code required. The app, which combines artificial intelligence and social sharing in a completely new way, is now available for download on the Apple App Store and through Sora.com for a limited time.

Sora 2, developed by the creators of ChatGPT, represents OpenAI’s boldest move into consumer-facing entertainment yet. Unlike traditional social networks, every video on Sora is AI-generated — meaning there are no influencers, ads, or real-world footage. Instead, users can create and share AI-crafted clips that mimic cinematic scenes, short skits, or imaginative worlds generated entirely through text prompts and creative inputs.

Previously, access to Sora 2 was highly restricted and invite-only, creating a wave of demand among creators eager to test the next big evolution in AI video. That exclusivity has now been lifted — at least temporarily — for select regions.

Getting into Sora 2 is now simpler than ever:

2. Sign in with your ChatGPT account — no separate registration required.

3. Start exploring the AI-generated video feed instantly.

Users outside the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea will still need an invite code to access Sora. However, OpenAI has confirmed that it plans to expand to more countries soon.

For those still waiting, there are several ways to obtain an invite code:

- Request one directly within the app by tapping “Notify me when access opens.”

- Join OpenAI’s official Discord community, where users occasionally share extra invite codes in the #sora-2-codes channel.

Once you receive an invite code and join Sora, you’ll get four additional codes to share with friends — helping expand the growing community of AI video creators.

OpenAI has clarified that this open access is temporary. After the limited rollout phase, the company may reintroduce invite-only restrictions or prioritize paid ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers for continued use.

For Android users, Sora 2 is not yet available as a standalone app, but you can still generate AI video clips using Sora 2 through the web browser version.
